Michael Buckland

‘The larch wood’

Painted outdoors this spring on Lympstone Common, then worked back in the studio. The yellow shapes through the trees are the sand and gravel quarry. Abstraction based on observation. I think that’s what Cezanne was after.

Acrylic on canvas. 30×40 inches.

Ah Michael I do like this, a lovely palette, and the foreground reminds me of my favourite artist Klimt.

Thanks Marie, I also love Klimt, the landscapes as well as the figures.
